FOREIGN
MISSIONS
OUR MISSION
The motivation of our work comes from Jesus’ Great Commission in which he tells us, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Our desire is to establish and nourish local, indigenous, self-supporting churches in specifically targeted fields throughout the world while also to integrating a missional culture into our home congregation.

WHO WE ARE
"The foreign missions ministry exists is to support current missionaries and ministries we sponsor or support and help them succeed; evaluate and assess new requests for support and to identify, cultivate and develop future missionaries. The foreign missions committee consists of more than thirty members and is open to any who wish to join. Additionally, we aim to encourage, inspire and prepare future missionaries for Kingdom work. College Church also encourages short-term missions and internships via our annual Great Commission Sunday special offering to Harding University students and all who are part of our church family."

WHAT KINDS OF FOREIGN MISSIONS DO WE SUPPORT?
Supported Individuals
The College Church supports many individuals, couples, and their families who have answered the call to connect with others around the world. The congregation has built strong teams to accomplish that purpose. While we support mission efforts throughout the world, our emphasis has traditionally been for east Africa, particularly Zambia, and for Europe. Today, however, the reach is widening to other parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. For an introduction to the missionaries we sponsor, search by region on our menu to see the work being done around the world and to read about the people and their families who are serving.
Supported Programs
In addition to supporting individuals, College Church also sponsors ministries such as Avanti Italia. Recruiting individuals who will commit to two years of living at the Bible school in Florence, Italy and teaching English to Italians, this work seeks to provide a service to local people while making contacts who are interested in studying the Bible. As the sponsor of this group, College Church has a long-standing commitment to the work that has brought many to Christ through the years. While Avanti is the largest program of support, we have many other good programs that receive partial funding from College Church.

HOW DO WE OPERATE?
Finances
Our annual budget for foreign missions is approximately half-a-million dollars which allows us to be involved with a lot of missions endeavors. We support many missionaries and programs in addition to sponsoring several individuals. To sponsor means that all funds are channeled through College Church who usually gives the bulk of support. Great Commission Sunday has its own budget funded by the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised annually for various special, mission requests.
Oversight
This vital work of the church is overseen by the Missions Committee, a group of men and women who have a particular interest in mission work. Anyone interested in working with the committee should contact one of the elders to become a participating member.
